Cederberg Heritage Route
The Cederberg Heritage Route offers a collection of four community-based hiking trails in the Cederberg mountains. They can range from three to five nights duration, depending on optional extra days that may be chosen. The majestic and rugged Cederberg mountains are only 2½ hours drive north from Cape Town.
The aim of the project is to operate a community based bed and breakfast operation, catering for international and domestic tourists. The community will be involved in providing catering and cleaning services as well as operating a donkey-carriage ride facility. Furthermore the project will aid in promoting tourism in the Cederberg area, and ultimately assist in the community’s development and alleviate poverty, thus creating sustainability for the community of Heuningvlei.
